Sweet Charity (1969) is a musical comedy-drama directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, starring Shirley MacLaine, John McMartin and Chita Rivera. The film follows Charity Hope Valentine, a taxi dancer in New York City who remains optimistic in her quest for true love despite a series of romantic misadventures. Adapted from the 1966 Broadway musical, which was based on Federico Fellini's *Nights of Cabiria*, the film features iconic musical numbers such as "Big Spender," "If My Friends Could See Me Now" and "The Rhythm of Life." Notable for its stylized choreography and vibrant production design, *Sweet Charity* marked Fosse's feature film directorial debut and received three Academy Award nominations.
